A traditional and grand reception was accorded to Pujyashri Shankaracharya Swamigals early this morning at Pujya Mahaswamigal Manimandapam on arrival from Kanchipuram.
Leaving Shrimatam at around 5am, Pujya Acharyas walked in a procession to Orikkai accompanied by Vedic chanting, bhajans with temple umbrellas adding a colourful touch. Sri Kamakshi Ambal prasadam was offered at the Temple entrance. Devotees offered poornakumbhams enroute at various points. A large number of devotees joined in the yatra.

With the benign blessings and presence of His Holiness Pujya Shri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamigal the first Utsavam of Ekamranatha Swamy in the Golden Chariot was held with devotion and celebration on the auspicious Pradosha day yesterday. The new Chariot was dedicated to the temple by His Holiness Pujya Shri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamigal in December last year coinciding the Maha Kumbhabhishekam. The Chariot is one of the biggest Golden Chariots dedicated to a temple in our country.
The Golden Chariot was first conceived by Pujya Shri Jayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamigal who blessed the commencement of the making and collection of gold. The wooden frame of the chariot was completed and this was blessed by His Holiness himself.
Continuing His work, His Holiness Pujya Shri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamigal ensured the completion and dedicated it to the Lord along with Junior Acharya Pujya Sri Satya Chandrashekharendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamigal. The dedication event held in December was a grand event with Kanchipuram devotees thronging in big numbers.
The crowd of devotees seemed to have surpassed the Kumbhabhishekam event. Accompanied with chanting, 108 Nadaswaram sets, Kailasha Vadyam, Shivanadiyars, etc it was a grand occasion at Kanchipuram. The HR&CE minister accompanied by local MLA & Wildlife Minister and Overseas Tamil Welfare Minister took part in the event with other government officials.
