The 70th Peethadhipathi Sri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamiji of Kanchipuram Mutt, Tamil Nadu, will be arriving in Nagpur on June 20 at Bhagavad Pada Sabha (BPS), Ramnagar, where he will reside for two days. The Kanchi seer is on his ‘Vijay Yatra’ to Varanasi, and is arriving in the city by road from Adilabad. Nagpur devotees will have the darshan of Swamiji after a gap of 20 years. A traditional ritual of the Mutt, the Maha Tripurasundari Sameda Chandramouleeshwara Pooja, will be ceremoniously performed in the city at BPS premises by Swamiji on June 21 and 22.

Swamiji’s last visit to the city was with his guru, the 69th Peetathipathi Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamiji, two decades ago when the latter perform the said ritual. From Nagpur, Swamiji will proceed to Ramtek and camp there for two days. Later, he will proceed to Jabalpur and Katni on way to Varanasi for Guru Poornima, where he will also observe Chaturmasya Vrata. The Kanchi seer has undertaken ‘Vijay Yatra’ in the past and travelled length and breadth of India. He visited Nepal in 1998 with his guru. He became the Peetathipathi of Kanchipuram Mutt on February 28, 2018. Born in 1969 in Periyapalayam, (Thiruvallur district, Tamil Nadu) to M Krishnamurthy and Ambalalakshmi, he was named Sankara Narayanan. His father was a vedic scholar and a teacher.

Bhagavad Pada Sabha has appealed to the devotees to assemble at the premises on the day of Swamiji’s arrival before 8 pm to accord a warm welcome. K Hariharan (Kanchi Mutt Representative), V Duraijan (Secretary), S Janakiraman, K Jagadeesan, R Sankar Raman, KV Nagarajan along with the managing committee, have made the arrangements for the event.
